Advancing Safety and Innovation in the Railway Industry
The railway industry is undergoing rapid transformation, fueled by sustainability goals, cutting-edge technologies, and expanding infrastructure. At Anamet Europe B.V., we support this transformation with certified railway cable protection solutions like flexible metal conduits for the most demanding railway applications.
As the world’s rail industry accelerates toward a greener future, safety remains the cornerstone of progress. The global railway market continues to grow steadily, with the Asia-Pacific region leading as the fastest-growing segment. Numerous national and international railway projects are underway, signaling strong future growth for the industry.
With the rise of alternative propulsion technologies and expanding infrastructure, the demand for reliable, high-performance components is greater than ever. Requirements for increasing speed involve minimizing both internal and external noise and vibrations during operation. Vibration-resistant conduit solutions also enhance trains to be more energy-efficient, compact, lightweight and easier to maintain.
At Anamet Europe B.V., we specialize in engineered to perform under the toughest conditions, like extreme vibration, temperature shifts, water ingress, stone impacts and more. Our solutions are trusted throughout the railway sector to protect critical electrical systems, sensors, and controls — offering high IP ratings and exceptional vibration resistance.
Railway systems consist of two critical infrastructure domains: train infrastructure (onboard systems, propulsion, control units) and track infrastructure (signaling systems, power supply, communication networks). Both require robust cable protection to ensure uninterrupted operation, safety and long-term reliability. Anamet’s solutions are engineered to meet the challenges of both domains.
Where Safety matters
Still, safety remains the top priority in the rail industry. The entire train infrastructure with all its systems and components is designed to ensure passenger safety through reliable railway cable protection and certified cable management systems. Electrical systems, sensors, controls, and mechanical connections must function flawlessly under exposure to extreme vibration, varying weather conditions, stone chipping and more.
As your trusted partner, our products meet the diverse and high requirements for fire protection in the rail industry. Our flexible metal conduits and fittings protect your cables inside and outside, above and underneath the cars. Our products are known for their durability and reliability, enabling extended maintenance intervals and long-term operational efficiency. This enables us to ensure maximum reliability with our certified products.
Why Industry Leaders Choose Anamet:
- Certified Safety: Our cable hose conduit fittings and cable glands meet EN45545-2 HL1, HL2, HL3 standards; our glands comply with EN45545-3 E30.
- Characteristics: Robust, reliable, materials also proven in other demanding industries, protection of cables and wires
- Proven Durability: Designed for long service life and minimal maintenance.
- Comprehensive Protection: Our systems deliver where it matters most; providing reliable railway cable protection inside, outside, above and below the train.
The EN45545 standard in railway application
Our products are certified in accordance with EN45545 railway standards, the international fire protection standard for the railway industry. This means that our conduits comply with the requirements of EN45545-2 HL1, HL2, HL3. Our cable hose conduit fittings and cable glands portfolio complies with the requirements of EN45545-3 E30.
The difference between EN45545-2 and EN 45545-3:
- EN45545-2: This part specifies how materials and components in rail vehicles are assessed with regard to flame propagation, heat release, smoke development and toxicity.
- HL1, HL2, HL3: Within the EN45545-2 the requirements are dependent on the application area and hazard level. The hazard levels define the risk depending on operating category and vehicle design. The higher the hazard level, the stricter the requirements for the material.
- EN45545-3: This part specifies the requirements for fire resistance of barriers with regard to passenger safety in case of fire.
- E10, E15, E30: Within the EN45545-3 these values indicate how long a fire barrier can withstand certain criteria. Meaning that there is no passage of flames or gases (also called integrity). The integrity levels show how long the system is able to ensure integrity (E10 = 10 minutes integrity, E15 = 15 minutes integrity, E30 = 30 minutes integrity).
Summarized, the EN45545-2 specifies the requirements on the fire behavior of the materials whereas the EN45545-3 specifies the requirements on the fire resistance of the systems.
Choosing the Right Conduit for Your Application
Selecting the appropriate conduit type is essential for ensuring long-term performance and safety. While both Liquid-tight flexible metal conduits and corrugated polyamide conduits are widely used in rail applications, they differ significantly in terms of durability, vibration resistance and maintenance needs.
