Whitepaper Hygienic Machine Cabling – Flexible Conduits
From 4 to 11 May 2017, Anamet Europe B.V. exhibited at Interpack, an international packaging fair for the sectors food, beverages, confectionery, bakery, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, non-food and industry, that takes place In Dusseldorf, Germany every three years. With an expected 170,000 specialist visitors from 190 countries around the world, the fair is a must-go event for our company.
During the fair, we had the opportunity to present the products Anamet has on offer for the food industry. While speaking to the many visitors that came by our stand in hall 18 we got to highlight our flexible hygienic design conduits.
The food industry – more so than any other industry – must avoid any build-up of bacteria in order to comply with HACCP and EHEDG regulations. Whereas conventional cable ducts are nearly impossible to make completely dust-free and waterproof, Anamet’s flexible hygienic design conduits are made of either smooth thermoplastic reinforced with a PVC spiral, or a galvanized steel innercore covered with smooth thermoplastic cover, which are both powder and water tight. The thermoplastic covers are specially formulated for food and beverage applications per FDA CFR 21 and NSF 51 requirements.
Any bends, sharp corners or cracks in which bacteria might lodge are kept to a minimum in our products for the food industry. This is a significant improvement over the more conventional methods, where cable ties are used to keep multiple cables together. Every time the cables are cleaned, the cable ties must be replaced, slowing down the cleaning process tremendously.
Cleaning conventional cable ducts and cables is both time-consuming and profit-decreasing. The longer the machines are down for cleaning purposes, the fewer products can be manufactured. Testing has shown that the recommended periodic cleaning of an Anamet conduit is up to five times faster than cleaning loose bundles of cables in conventional cable ducts.
