Maintaining rigorous hygiene standards is paramount in the food and beverage sector to safeguard safety and ensure regulatory compliance. Unprotected cables can accumulate contaminants that compromise food quality and make cleaning more difficult.<\/p>\n

Products must conform to strict standards – such as EHEDG, FDA and NSF\/ANSI 169 – to deliver optimal contamination protection and cleaning efficiency.<\/p>\n

Hygienic design must be implemented at every stage of production – from selecting materials like stainless steel AISI-316 to employing specially engineered seals – to minimize risks. Recognizing this, the European Commission has introduced pivotal directives and regulations, including the food hygiene regulation, the machine directive and the food contact materials regulation.<\/p>\n

The EU food hygiene directive EC852\/2004, for example, mandates that every segment of the production process must be evaluated for risks using Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and insists that all parts of the production line remain accessible for thorough cleaning.<\/p>\n

Moreover, equipment manufacturers are required to affix the CE mark to their machines, thereby certifying that the equipment complies with all relevant EU legislation – including the machine directive 2004\/42\/EC, which specifically covers machinery intended for food, cosmetics or pharmaceutical products to prevent food or biochemical contamination. The European Standard EN-1672-2 further divides food equipment into designated zones (Food Area, Splash Area and Non-Food Area) to guide cleaning protocols.<\/p>\n

In the United States, similar hygiene measures are enforced under the Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA), with ISO 14159 and NSF\/ANSI 169 serving as the respective equivalents and food-grade materials regulated by 21 CFR 170-1999 in conjunction with ANSI\/NSF International Standard 51.<\/p>\n
